Kano Safe, Residents Dismiss UK Travel Advisory

Residents of Kano State have dismissed the United Kingdom’s latest travel advisory warning its citizens against travelling to parts of Nigeria, insisting that Kano remains relatively safe and peaceful.

The reaction followed the inclusion of Kano among states referenced in the UK’s updated security advisory, which warned British nationals about potential security risks in some parts of the country.

Some Kano residents described the advisory as exaggerated, saying daily activities continue normally across the state. They maintained that markets, businesses, schools and other public places remain active, while security agencies continue to maintain law and order.

Residents also urged visitors and travellers to rely on verified security information and avoid allowing generalised warnings to create unnecessary fear about the state.

The development comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, with authorities and community leaders continuing efforts to strengthen security and protect residents.
