Millwall forward Femi Azeez has been rewarded for an outstanding 2025/26 campaign after earning a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
The Nigerian was recognised at the PFA Awards on Tuesday following a productive season in the English second tier, where he contributed 11 goals and seven assists for Millwall.
Azeez was selected alongside some of the Championship’s leading performers, with newly promoted Premier League club Coventry City having a strong presence in the team.
Coventry goalkeeper Carl Rushworth made the selection, while Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Matt Grimes, Jack Rudoni and Haji Wright also earned places in the Team of the Year.
Millwall defender Tristan Crama, Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney and Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik complete the prestigious XI.
Azeez’s recognition caps a breakthrough campaign in which his attacking contributions helped establish him as one of the Championship’s most effective performers.
His club form also earned him a call-up to the Nigeria national team under head coach Eric Chelle.
The 25-year-old made a strong impression during Nigeria’s Unity Cup campaign in May, scoring twice against Zimbabwe before providing an assist against Jamaica as the Super Eagles went on to win the tournament.
His performances for both Millwall and Nigeria have continued to raise his profile, with the PFA recognition further underlining his emergence as one of the leading Nigerian attackers in the English game.
For Azeez, the Team of the Year honour provides a fitting reward for a season in which his goals, creativity and consistency made him one of Millwall’s key attacking figures.
