Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has criticised the inclusion of the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, and the Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Taminu Yakubu, in the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.

The APC on Saturday unveiled a 108 member campaign council for President Bola Tinubu’s re election bid, naming former Zamfara State Governor, Senator AbdulAzeez Yari, as Director General and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as Secretary.

According to TheCable, Yakubu was appointed Treasurer of the council, while Adedeji was named Deputy Director of Fundraising.

In a statement on Sunday, Kwankwaso said the involvement of the two senior public officials in partisan campaign activities could undermine the neutrality and public confidence in the institutions they lead.

He questioned whether officials responsible for managing public revenue and national finances should simultaneously hold senior political campaign positions.

Kwankwaso also criticised the APC campaign council against the backdrop of rising living costs, unemployment, insecurity and pressure on essential public services.

He urged Nigerians to demand accountable and people oriented governance, while appealing to Yari to reconsider accepting the Director General position.

Kwankwaso said Yari, as a former governor of Zamfara and prominent North West politician, was aware of the effects of insecurity, poverty and unemployment in the region and should carefully consider the implications of leading the campaign.

He described the 2027 election as a contest between Nigerians struggling with hardship and those he accused of benefiting from the existing political system.
