The Kano State Government has entered into a 20-year agreement with the Aliko Dangote Foundation for the takeover and management of the Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre in the state.
The agreement, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on Tuesday, is aimed at repositioning the centre and expanding its capacity to provide entrepreneurial and vocational training opportunities for youths across Kano State.
The agreement was signed at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, with the state government represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkareem Maude.
The Aliko Dangote Foundation was represented by its Programme Manager (North), Sanusi Abdulkadir, and Programme Support Officer, Mustapha Umar.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the SSG, said the foundation’s involvement would bring significant development to the centre and improve its contribution to skills development.
He said the foundation had the technical and managerial expertise required to transform the centre into a leading entrepreneurial and vocational training institution in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
The governor explained that the decision followed deliberations by the State Executive Council, which approved the arrangement to promote best practices in vocational training.
The Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre was established by the Kano State Government during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and named after business mogul Aliko Dangote.
The partnership is expected to strengthen vocational education, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for young people in Kano State.
