Chinese autonomous-driving company Pony.ai is accelerating its global expansion, with a pipeline of planned and potential overseas deployments exceeding 4,000 robotaxis.

The company is targeting markets across Europe, the Middle East and Asia as competition in China’s autonomous-driving sector intensifies. Pony.ai has not yet provided a specific timeline for deploying the full overseas fleet, with several projects still subject to regulatory approvals.

A major part of the expansion involves an agreement with Uber to deploy more than 2,000 robotaxis across Europe. The partnership builds on an existing commercial service in Zagreb, Croatia, and is expected to expand into additional European cities.

Pony.ai is also strengthening its business in China while scaling internationally. The company is targeting a global robotaxi fleet of more than 3,500 vehicles by the end of 2026. Its second-quarter revenue rose 68.8% year over year to $36.2 million, while robotaxi revenue jumped 691.2%, highlighting the rapid growth of its autonomous mobility business.

The overseas push reflects a broader industry race to commercialize self-driving ride-hailing services. For Pony.ai, expanding beyond China could provide access to new markets while testing its autonomous-driving technology under different road conditions, regulations and consumer demands.
