Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the result as a reflection of the choice of the people.
Atiku, in a statement on Sunday, said Adeleke’s victory demonstrated the will of Osun residents as expressed through their votes.
He also commended the people of Osun State for participating peacefully in the governorship election and for upholding the democratic process.
Atiku urged Adeleke to use his second term to continue working for the development and progress of the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner of the election after he secured 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The result gives Adeleke another four-year term as governor of Osun State.
The election and its outcome have continued to generate reactions from political leaders and stakeholders across the country, with calls for the mandate to be used to deepen development and improve the welfare of residents.
