Arsenal Close in on £75m Bruno Guimarães Transfer from Newcastle

Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães after agreeing a reported £75 million deal for the Brazilian midfielder.

According to reports from Sky Sports, the Premier League giants have reached an agreement with Newcastle, while Guimarães has been granted permission to undergo a medical ahead of finalising the move.

“Arsenal have agreed a £75m fee with Newcastle for their captain Bruno Guimaraes. The midfielder has been given permission to travel for a medical,” Sky Sports reported.

Guimarães has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers since arriving from French club Lyon in January 2022. The Brazilian quickly established himself as a key figure in midfield and was later handed the captain’s armband, playing a vital role in the Magpies’ return to European competition and their rise among the Premier League’s leading clubs.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has identified midfield reinforcement as a priority ahead of the new campaign, with Guimarães viewed as the ideal addition because of his composure on the ball, defensive work rate, leadership qualities and ability to influence matches in both attack and midfield.

The proposed transfer would represent one of Arsenal’s biggest signings of the summer, while Newcastle are set to receive a significant financial return for one of their most influential players.

The move is expected to be completed once the midfielder successfully undergoes his medical and agrees personal terms with the North London club.

If finalised, Guimarães will strengthen an Arsenal side determined to challenge for Premier League honours and compete strongly in European competitions during the 2026/27 season.

The development comes after earlier reports indicated that Arsenal were preparing an improved offer for the Brazilian following an initial £70 million bid, underlining the club’s determination to secure one of the Premier League’s most highly rated midfielders.
