A high-powered delegation from Kano State has paid a condolence visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, following the passing of the Sarkin Sudan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Jabbi Kilgori, a revered traditional title holder widely regarded as the Sardauna of Sokoto.
The delegation conveyed the sympathies of the Kano State Government and the people of the state to the Sultanate Council and the bereaved family, describing the late traditional leader as a distinguished statesman whose lifetime was marked by selfless service, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the preservation of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
Speaking during the visit, members of the delegation noted that the late Sardauna played a significant role in promoting peace, unity, and mutual understanding within the traditional institution and across the country. They said his contributions to nation-building and community development would remain a lasting legacy.
The delegation prayed for Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the Sultan, the royal family, and the people of Sokoto State the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In his response, the Sultan of Sokoto expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government and the delegation for the visit and their show of solidarity during the period of mourning. He said the gesture reflected the enduring bond between the people of Kano and Sokoto and underscored the unity among Nigeria’s traditional institutions.
The condolence visit highlighted the continued spirit of mutual respect and cooperation between the two states, as leaders and well-wishers continue to pay tribute to the late traditional ruler for his invaluable service to the nation.
