National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has praised the partnership between the Federal Government and Kaduna State Government in tackling insecurity, describing the collaboration as a major boost to security efforts in the state.
Ribadu stated this during the graduation ceremony of the first batch of Armed Forest Guards in Kaduna on Saturday. Represented by the Director of Internal Security at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Malam Sani Sani, he described Kaduna’s forest guard training as the best among similar programmes across the country.
He said over 1,000 forest guards were trained in weapons handling, physical fitness, community relations, security coordination, and respect for the rule of law.
According to Ribadu, the personnel would serve as first responders in their communities, helping to prevent criminal activities before the arrival of conventional security agencies.
He added that President Bola Tinubu launched the Armed Forest Guard initiative in 2025 to protect forests and stop criminals from using ungoverned areas as hideouts.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, thanked the Federal Government for its support and requested an additional 1,000 forest guards to further strengthen security in the state.
The governor said improved collaboration with security agencies had helped restore access to previously troubled areas, including Birnin Gwari, Giwa, and Kachia local government areas.
