Bauchi — The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has called on the Bauchi State Government to establish a centralised motor park to improve transport operations, strengthen security, and enhance passenger safety across the state.
The union said a unified motor park system would help streamline the movement of commercial vehicles, improve regulation of transport activities, and reduce the proliferation of unauthorised loading points. According to the union, centralising transport operations would also make it easier for security agencies and transport authorities to monitor activities and curb criminal practices often associated with illegal motor parks.
NURTW further noted that a modern, centralised transport hub would improve convenience for commuters, boost revenue generation, and create a more organised environment for transport operators and passengers alike.
The union urged the state government to engage relevant stakeholders in developing a sustainable transport system capable of supporting the state’s growing population and commercial activities.
Stakeholders in the transport sector have continued to advocate investments in modern motor park infrastructure, arguing that well-managed terminals can improve urban mobility, enhance public safety, and contribute to economic development.
