Pop star Ariana Grande has filed a lawsuit against unidentified hackers accused of stealing and leaking unreleased songs, private photographs and behind the scenes videos from the digital accounts of people in her inner circle.
According to court documents, the lawsuit alleges the defendants hacked the personal accounts and devices of photographers, producers and other collaborators who worked closely with Grande, obtaining unreleased music, recording session footage and personal images that were later sold online, including on the dark web.
The complaint claims that 45 unreleased songs were leaked in 2023 alone and argues that the alleged hacking campaign caused “substantial and irreparable harm” to Grande’s career, creative work and privacy. The singer is seeking to identify the hackers through court approved subpoenas and hold them accountable for what her legal team described as a malicious invasion of privacy.
Grande’s legal team said the case is intended not only to protect her own work but also to discourage similar attacks on artists whose unreleased material and personal content are increasingly targeted by cybercriminals. The lawsuit names the suspects as “John Does” because their identities are not yet known.
The singer has long spoken out against music leaks, previously warning that the unauthorised release of unfinished material undermines artists’ ability to decide when and how their work is shared with the public.
