Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with senior U.S. envoys on Wednesday, with discussions focusing on continued military assistance, including weapons supplies, as Ukraine seeks to strengthen its defences against Russian attacks.
Zelensky said the meeting centred on expanding defence cooperation, accelerating the delivery of military equipment and enhancing Ukraine’s air defence capabilities. He described the discussions as constructive and reaffirmed Kyiv’s commitment to working closely with Washington.
The talks come as Ukraine continues to press its Western allies for additional air defence systems, long range weapons and ammunition to counter intensified Russian missile and drone strikes. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly argued that sustained military support is critical to maintaining the country’s defensive operations.
The U.S. delegation reaffirmed Washington’s support for Ukraine, while discussing ongoing security assistance and broader efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Officials also reviewed the battlefield situation and Ukraine’s most urgent military requirements.
The meeting took place amid continued fighting across eastern and southern Ukraine, where Russian forces have intensified attacks in recent weeks. Kyiv has continued to urge its international partners to speed up military deliveries as the conflict enters another critical phase.
Zelensky thanked the United States for its continued support and said close coordination with allies remains essential to Ukraine’s security and long-term defence strategy.
