The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba State, has reserved its ruling in a suit filed by APC chairmanship aspirant, Abdulhadi Haruna Lau, challenging his exclusion from the party’s state chairmanship primary.
Justice Mashkur Salisu reserved the ruling after hearing arguments from lawyers representing Lau, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties involved in the case.
Lau is seeking the nullification of the chairmanship primary, arguing that he was qualified to contest but was denied the opportunity to participate despite purchasing the required nomination forms.
His counsel, Musa Attah, SAN, maintained that Lau had paid the necessary fees and was issued a receipt but was allegedly denied the form required to contest the election.
However, counsel to the APC, Festus Kayode, SAN, urged the court to dismiss the suit, arguing that the matter concerned the internal affairs of the political party and that the court should decline jurisdiction.
Counsel to another defendant also argued that Lau failed to pay a stipulated penalty fee and had not provided evidence from the APC National Working Committee to support his claim.
The court adjourned the matter for ruling, with the date for delivery expected to be communicated to the parties.
