The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director General of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, in Kuje Correctional Centre.
Justice Mohammed Umar issued the order on Wednesday after Adeyemi pleaded not guilty to an eight count charge bordering on alleged forgery, impersonation and conspiracy.
The prosecution accused Adeyemi of presenting himself as the Director General of an agency it described as fictitious. He was also accused of forging presidential appointment letters, official correspondence and other documents relating to the purported agency.
The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was initially filed by the police against Adeyemi and two other suspects who are currently at large.
Prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, urged the court to remand Adeyemi pending trial, while his lawyer, Genesis Francis, informed the court that a bail application had already been filed and served on the prosecution.
The judge declined to hear the bail application immediately and adjourned the matter until October 12, 2026, for hearing of the bail application and commencement of trial.
Adeyemi had previously failed to appear for arraignment, prompting the court to order his arrest. The prosecution also alleged that he operated the purported agency from the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja.
