The Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State, has adjourned hearing in a suit challenging the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election to September.
The case, filed by APC governorship aspirant Mustapha Maihajja, challenges the outcome and alleged irregularities surrounding the party’s May 21 governorship primary.
The court fixed September 7, 8 and 9, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings.
The suit has attracted attention within the state’s political circles as the parties continue to present their cases before the court.
Nine witnesses have so far testified in the proceedings, while the defence has indicated that several witnesses are expected to appear as the hearing progresses.
The court’s decision to adjourn the matter means the legal challenge will continue into September, with the parties expected to return for further proceedings.
The case comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Yobe State.
