Popular Thai travel YouTuber Hlun Solo has been confirmed dead after disappearing while travelling alone in Georgia, ending weeks of uncertainty that prompted appeals from his family for information about his whereabouts.
Hlun Solo, whose legal name was Bowornthat Pengsuk, was a 27 year old travel content creator known for documenting his adventures across different countries. According to his family, they lost contact with him on July 13 while he was travelling in Georgia to film new content.
After days of searching and public appeals on social media, the family confirmed on July 30 that he had died.
Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is working with the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, and Georgian authorities to complete the necessary procedures and arrange for the repatriation of his body to Thailand.
Jaithai Upakaranitikaset, Director General of the Department of Information and spokesperson for the ministry, said embassy officials travelled to Georgia, where local authorities confirmed Hlun’s death. Thai officials are continuing to coordinate with Georgian authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Hlun’s 82 year old grandmother, Som Plengsuk, said she had continued hoping her grandson was alive and would return home safely, as he had done after previous overseas trips.
Relatives have also questioned why Georgian police were reportedly unable to contact the family promptly, noting that his passport and personal details should have been available through his hotel registration records.
The family has appealed for privacy as they make funeral arrangements and has urged the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information while investigations continue.
