A Berom youth leader and spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, has described the recurring attacks on communities in Plateau State as devastating, saying he has witnessed at least five entire families wiped out by gunmen.

Speaking during an interview, Tengwong recalled the recent attack on Kum and Wereng-Camp communities in Riyom Local Government Area, where nine members of a single family, including parents and their children, were killed in one night. He said the incident is one of several similar attacks that have left entire households exterminated and many residents displaced from their ancestral homes.

According to him, the persistent violence has forced many people to flee their communities, while survivors continue to live in fear of further attacks. He appealed to the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen security operations in Plateau State, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure affected communities can return to their homes safely.
